Cornell University’s Animal Health Diagnostic Center (AHDC) and the New York State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory have received a $19.5 million funding award from the state to expand their space and operations. The AHDC, part of Cornell’s College of Veterinary Medicine, is a leading diagnostic lab conducting hundreds of thousands of tests annually, providing critical information about diseases, and assisting law enforcement with animal-related crimes.
Recently, its Virology Lab published a study confirming that bird flu can be transmitted between mammals. The funding ceremony featured Cornell leadership and notable attendees, including Commissioner Richard Ball of New York State Agriculture and Markets, State Senator Lea Webb, and Assemblymembers Dr. Anna Kelles and Donna Lupardo. This investment aims to support the center’s growth and enhance its contributions to animal health research and diagnostics.
