Mars has announced changes to its operations in Russia following the country’s invasion of Ukraine. The company, employing nearly 6,000 staff in Russia, will “scale back” its business while continuing to sell human and pet food locally. Profits from its Russian operations will be directed toward humanitarian causes, and the company has suspended new investments, imports, exports, and advertising in Russia and Belarus. Mars operates a confectionery plant in Stupino and a pet-food facility in Novosibirsk.

Other major food companies, including Nestlé, PepsiCo, Unilever, and Danone, have similarly suspended investments in Russia but continue to sell certain products. Meanwhile, some companies, such as Arla Foods and Finland-based Valio, are halting operations in Russia altogether. Mars and other companies emphasize their support for the victims of the conflict and call for a peaceful resolution, highlighting the uncertainty and rapidly changing nature of the situation.
