Petco Love, a national nonprofit, has reached a milestone in its “Vaccinated and Loved” initiative by administering its three millionth free pet vaccine. Since launching in August 2021, the program has provided free vaccinations to protect pets from preventable diseases like parvovirus, distemper, and panleukopenia. The milestone event took place in New Orleans, where 17-year-old Bentley, a beloved dog owned by local resident Ms. Jo, received the historic vaccine at a free clinic.
Partnering with Merck Animal Health, Louisiana SPCA, and LSU’s Community Outreach Veterinary Program, the initiative targets families facing financial challenges. Petco Love surveys show that 38% of pets attending these clinics have never seen a private veterinarian, highlighting the crucial role of these services in improving pet health and reducing Veterinary costs. Through partnerships and Access to Care grants, Petco Love continues to make Veterinary care accessible, creating healthier communities and saving lives across the U.S.
