The American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC), in partnership with Chewy Health, announced the 2025 Chewy Veterinary Leaders Cohort, a program designed to support underrepresented second-year Veterinary students with financial assistance, mentorship, and professional development. Each of the 15 selected students receives a $20,000 scholarship to recognize their leadership potential and dedication to diversifying the Veterinary field.
 
The program offers bi-monthly peer support sessions, leadership training at Chewy’s headquaChewy Veterinary Leadersrters, post-graduation participation in MentorVet LEAP’s six-month mentorship program, and access to the  alumni network for ongoing professional growth. Chewy Health President Mita Malhotra emphasized the initiative’s role in creating a more inclusive Veterinary community by empowering future leaders. Lisa Greenhill, AAVMC’s chief diversity officer, highlighted the importance of encouraging diversity to advance Veterinary medicine. Chosen students were nominated by their institutions based on leadership potential. Applications for the 2026 cohort will open later this year on the AAVMC website.
