Michael Nabers, a tech professional with experience at companies like Samsung Electronics, Spotify, Uber, and Lyft, is applying his knowledge to the pet health industry with a new venture called Umbrella Vet. This artificial intelligence-powered app is designed to help pet owners track and manage their pets’ health. It offers tools and analyses to assist in creating health plans and enables users to connect with licensed veterinarians.

The app uses machine learning to identify health issues and provides at-home care advice. Nabers’s goal is to address the financial challenges faced by pet owners when covering medical expenses, with annual costs for dogs ranging from $15,000 to $55,000 and for cats from $5,000 to $23,000. Umbrella Vet has raised pre-seed funding and is seeking a formal $5 million seed round. It is available on Apple and Android devices with a $5 per month subscription.
