The U.S. House Agriculture Committee has passed a $1.5 trillion Farm Bill, which the ASPCA criticizes for its negative impact on animal welfare. The bill overturns state and local animal protection laws, jeopardizes farm animals and fails to enhance protections for dogs in puppy mills. Instead, it weakens enforcement by the USDA, allowing continued animal suffering.

The bill also does not address the export of American horses for slaughter. The ASPCA urges Congress to remove harmful provisions and include Goldie’s Act and the SAFE Act to ensure better protection for animals. The public is encouraged to contact their representatives to advocate for a more humane Farm Bill. For more information, visit www.aspca.org/FarmBill.
