The North American Veterinary Community (NAVC) has launched the “Trust Your Vet Tech” campaign with support from VCA Animal Hospitals to raise awareness about the vital roles of Veterinary nurses and technicians. Despite their education and skills being similar to registered nurses in human medicine, a survey by NAVC revealed that most pet owners are unaware of the wide range of care provided by vet techs.
The campaign aims to change these perceptions among pet owners and encourage them to fully utilize the expertise of vet techs. Creative and informative materials will be sent to clinics nationwide to reach pet owners. In addition, the campaign seeks to educate practice team members to rely more on these essential professionals to benefit pets, pet owners, and Veterinary practices.
