The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) in Ireland is seeking a service provider to deliver training and advisory services in animal health and biosecurity for on-farm advisors. This initiative, part of the EU Rural Development Programme, aims to address specific animal health issues through targeted advisory measures.

The project involves two main components: training veterinarians to provide specialist advice and implementing an on-farm advisory scheme to deliver tailored recommendations to farmers. Key animal health topics include bovine viral diarrhea (BVD), Johne’s Disease, infectious bovine rhinotracheitis (IBR), somatic cell count (SCC), parasite control, and welfare issues in pig and poultry farming. The tender, valued at €388,000, has a December 20 deadline, with a 12-month contract based in Dublin. The provider will also manage a database of trained advisors, process farmer applications, and match advisors to specific cases, ensuring a comprehensive approach to improving animal health and welfare on Irish farms.
