The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is initiating a partnership between the National Animal Health Laboratory Network (NAHLN) and the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBADF) to enhance early detection of emerging animal diseases. The collaboration involves deploying five scientists to different NAHLN laboratories across the country.

These scientists will assess regional and national threats related to animal diseases, conduct risk assessments, and ensure that the NAHLN laboratories in their respective regions have the capabilities to respond effectively to these threats. The partnership leverages NBADF’s expertise in foreign animal disease diagnostics and combines it with NAHLN’s resources to strengthen the nation’s ability to detect and respond to animal health challenges.
