The newly opened Ontario Swine Research Centre in Elora, Ontario, represents a collaborative investment from the government of Ontario, the Agricultural Research Institute of Ontario (ARIO), and Ontario’s pork industry. Managed by the University of Guelph through the Ontario Agri-Food Innovation Alliance, the facility aims to enhance research, innovation, and technology development for the benefit of Ontario’s pork producers and consumers.
This center joins the existing Ontario Beef Research Centre and Ontario Dairy Research Centre on the same site, reflecting successful academic-industry-government partnerships focused on livestock research. The Swine Research Centre will cover diverse disciplines including nutrition, animal health, genetics, and reproduction, contributing to the advancement of the province’s pork sector.
