Rowan University in New Jersey celebrated the halfway point of constructing the Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine and Virtua Health College Research Center with a ceremonial beam signing on September 9, 2024. Attendees included university leaders, Virtua Health partners, officials, students, and community members. The new facility, set to be New Jersey’s first Veterinary school, will welcome its inaugural class in fall 2025, pending accreditation.

The 162,000-square-foot, $176 million building, located on Rowan’s west campus, will house state-of-the-art Veterinary classrooms, a teaching hospital, diagnostic labs, and collaborative research spaces. Established in partnership with Virtua Health, Rowan will become one of two U.S. universities to offer three medical degrees (MD, DO, DVM). Generous contributions, including $85 million from Virtua Health, $75 million from the New Jersey Legislature, and $30 million from donor Gerald B. Shreiber, support the school’s development, future scholarships, and innovative curriculum focused on hands-on experience from Day One.
