Have you ever thought about measuring workplace performance and sustainability through a lens of psychological health and safety factors?
Have you been finding it a struggle to keep employees motivated, focused, or resilient?
A measurement grid of psychological safety factors might offer a new perspective for solution seeking managers.
When it comes to planning a workplace that enhances, promotes, and protects mental health and wellness at work, how do you measure up?
A Psychological Health and Safety Management Program endeavors to provide a supportive and proactive workplace environment where the most vulnerable members feel like they belong, matter, and can speak up when they are not feeling like themselves at work.
When it’s the right time to use this measurement tool:
- During employee onboarding, one-to-ones, and during times of stress (changes, traumatic events, etc.)
- Strategic planning (budgeting, HR planning, etc.)
- Manager assessments (managers may self administer to determine their own risk to their mental health or senior managers may use this to assist with manager check-ins)
- Where the organization has “lost their mojo.”
Background (why the colors?)
The purpose of these colors: The Mental Health Continuum uses these colors to help those experiencing their emotions to communicate with someone who is listening to them. This tool has been developed by professionals as a tool to help supporters understand what the person is experiencing. It is an excellent conversation tool that takes the way a person experiences stress into an understandable context; in terms of workplace performance, teamwork, and coping with a high stress, demanding job.
