Utah State University (USU) aims to establish a Veterinary school with an inaugural class in fall 2025. However, the school is contingent on receiving a “letter of reasonable assurance,” a critical step for accreditation from the American Veterinary Medical Association Council on Education, expected in spring 2025. This compressed timeline means the school will begin accepting applications just months before the start date, which is significantly later than other Veterinary schools.
This delay might limit the applicant pool and pressure the admissions team. Currently, USU operates a 2+2 program with Washington State University, but it plans to transition to a standalone program. Without accreditation, students would lack access to federal financial aid, restricting enrollment to those who can afford private loans or upfront payments. The program plans to admit 40 students initially, doubling to 80 in future years.
