HABRI and Lap of Love Partner to Promote the Power of the Human-Animal Bond During End-of-Life Care for Pets

The Human Animal Bond Research Institute (HABRI) has partnered with Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice, a nationwide provider of in-home pet hospice and euthanasia care, to promote awareness of the human-animal bond during pets’ end-of-life journeys. The collaboration emphasizes compassionate care, education, and research on the emotional support pets provide, even in their final moments.

Dr. Mary Gardner, CEO of Lap of Love, highlighted the bond’s strength during a pet’s last days, while HABRI President Steven Feldman underscored the importance of reducing anxiety and enhancing support for pet owners planning euthanasia. Partnering with the Companion Animal Euthanasia Training Academy (CAETA), the initiative will enhance understanding and resources for end-of-life care. This effort combines HABRI’s research expertise with Lap of Love and CAETA’s focus on compassionate care to improve pet quality of life and emotional support for owners during these transitions, facilitating healing through the enduring human-animal bond.
