A tragic incident unfolded in Flushing, Queens, where a man and a dog were found dead inside a mobile veterinary van on Sunday morning. Police discovered the bodies shortly before 9:30 a.m., along with a 73-year-old man found unconscious outside the vehicle. The survivor was identified as Garo Alexanian, founder of the mobile veterinary clinic, who was taken to the hospital in stable condition. Neighbors described Alexanian as a quiet, dedicated veterinarian who provided low-cost care to sick and injured animals in the community.
Witnesses reported finding him lying outside in freezing temperatures, appearing cold and semi-conscious. Surveillance footage showed a man staggering and collapsing near the van. Investigators noted a generator operating outside the vehicle, raising concerns about possible carbon monoxide exposure, although an autopsy will determine the cause of death. The van had been parked near Alexanian’s home and served animals around the clock.
