A tornado struck Bristow, Oklahoma, damaging the facilities of Bristow Barnyard Animal Rescue on Friday evening and destroying several dog kennels. Beth Roberts, who runs the nonprofit rescue, shared photos of the damage on Facebook and described the chaotic moments after the storm when several dogs briefly escaped after the kennels were torn apart. Rescue staff quickly gathered and secured the animals, and all dogs were accounted for without injuries. The rescue also houses more than 150 farm animals outdoors, but they all remained safe during the storm.
The tornado was part of a larger severe weather outbreak across the Midwest and Plains that caused deaths and injuries in several communities. Meteorologists had issued a tornado watch earlier in the day as dangerous storms developed in the region. Roberts said the experience was emotionally difficult, but the team is now focused on rebuilding. The rescue relies on donations, and funds are being collected to repair the damage and replace destroyed kennels.
