The American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC), in partnership with Chewy Health, has announced the 2025 Chewy Veterinary Leaders Cohort. This program supports underrepresented second-year Veterinary students through $20,000 scholarships, leadership development, and mentorship opportunities, aiming to create a more inclusive Veterinary profession.
Fifteen students were selected for their leadership potential and commitment to diversity. Participants will benefit from bi-monthly peer support, leadership training at Chewy’s headquarters, post-graduation enrollment in MentorVet LEAP’s mentorship program, and access to the Chewy Veterinary Leaders alumni network for continued community and professional growth. Mita Malhotra, President of Chewy Health, highlighted the program’s role in empowering future Veterinary leaders, while Dr. Lisa Greenhill of AAVMC emphasized its importance in advancing diversity to meet societal needs. The selected students represent institutions nationwide, and applications for the 2026 cohort will open later this year.
