As Southern California wildfires rage, Pasadena Humane has reported an influx of over 300 animals, many suffering from burn injuries. The shelter is providing critical medical care, including pain relief, wound care, fluids, and oxygen. To focus on helping displaced animals, the shelter is coordinating with other facilities to rehome animals previously in their care.
Evacuated residents are urged to take pets with them, and the shelter offers emergency boarding and pet food assistance for those unable to keep their animals during the evacuation. Animal control officers are assisting on the ground, and the shelter is bracing for more injured animals once the fires subside. Pasadena Humane is requesting donations to sustain their efforts. The American Veterinary Medical Association advises pet owners to prepare evacuation kits with essentials like food, water, medicine, and documentation for safe departures during emergencies. Photos of rescued animals and updates are available on the shelter’s Facebook page.
