Dr. Jim Lloyd
In July 2019, Dr. James Lloyd became CEO and senior consultant for Animal Health Economics, LLC, a company he founded. With a focus on economics and strategy in veterinary medicine and animal health, Jim works with executive leaders in academic veterinary medicine, the animal health industry, and allied organizations to identify, analyze, and implement key strategic initiatives and alliances. Since launching his business, Dr. Lloyd has authored 35 consulting reports/publications, delivered nearly 40 presentations, and helped develop four national workshops.
For the six prior years, Dr. Lloyd served as Dean of the University of Florida-College of Veterinary Medicine, where during his tenure the College improved its national ranking to 9th, remarkably jumping five spots from 14th in only four years. Over the same period, the College nearly doubled its total budget.
Before becoming Dean, Dr. Lloyd was Professor and Associate Dean at Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. As a leading scholar in economics and veterinary medicine, he has authored or co-authored 176 scientific publications and has delivered 354 scientific presentations and workshops.
Dr. Lloyd’s academic training includes both a DVM and a PhD in agricultural economics. As a consultant, he draws on his unique blend of executive leadership experience, training and expertise in economic and business analysis, broad-based industry knowledge, and extensive professional network.
