Blue Ridge Beef has recalled 5,700 lbs. of its Natural Mix dog food due to salmonella contamination, affecting products distributed in eight states: Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Tennessee, and Rhode Island. The recall applies to 2 lb. logs packaged in clear plastic, sold between January 3 and January 24, 2025, with lot number #N25/12/31 and UPC# 854298001054. This follows a December recall of 9,600 lbs. of Puppy Mix after a salmonella outbreak in Virginia.
The FDA warns that salmonella can harm pets and humans handling contaminated products, potentially causing symptoms like diarrhea, fever, vomiting, and abdominal pain in animals, and diarrhea, fever, and cramps in humans. Infected pets may also be asymptomatic carriers, posing a risk to other animals and people. The FDA advises pet owners to contact a veterinarian if their pet shows symptoms after consuming the recalled product and to practice proper hygiene when handling pet food.
