Sterling Ranch Park in Denair hosted the lively Walk ‘N Wag event on Sunday, drawing crowds with costumed dogs and exotic pets. Organized by the Community Veterinary Clinic, Denair Vendors in the Park, and Friends of Turlock Animal Shelter, the event featured a $20 dog walk, pet costume contests, and competitions for best tricks and ugliest dog, each offering prizes. Around 40 dogs entered the costume contest, while 10 showcased tricks and one vied for ugliest dog.
Dr. Brandon Barrett of Community Veterinary Clinic provided free dental exams, and Cali FID, an exotic animal rescue nonprofit, offered a petting zoo with adoptable animals like parrots, a tortoise, and iguanas. The event raised funds for Friends for Life, a rescue organization formed by the clinic and shelter partnership. Office manager and organizer Kortney Rocha highlighted the event’s dual goal of fundraising and community engagement. The Denair Fire Department also participated, selling pink shirts for breast cancer awareness.
