JBS has partnered with stakeholders to donate 3 million livestock tags to improve cattle traceability in Pará, Brazil, aiming to track every head of cattle in the state by 2026. Pará, home to Brazil’s second-largest cattle herd, is the focus of this initiative, which seeks to revolutionize livestock management and sustainability.
Of the donated tags, 2 million are designated for small-scale producers, with funding from The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and the Bezos Earth Fund. The remaining tags are provided by JBS. The program was announced at the World Economic Forum in Davos, emphasizing collaboration between government, industry, and civil society.
A 28,000-head pilot program in 2024 at JBS facilities in Marabá and Redenção helped refine the tagging process. By scaling this initiative, JBS and its partners aim to enhance transparency, improve sustainability, and support a low-carbon cattle industry, reinforcing their commitment to responsible livestock farming.
