Dr. Lori Teller has been honored with the 2025 AVMA Award, the highest recognition from the American Veterinary Medical Association, for her outstanding leadership and lifelong contributions to organized veterinary medicine. A 1990 graduate of Texas A&M’s College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Teller began her service at the local level before advancing through state and national organizations. She served as president of both the Texas Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA) and the AVMA, co-developed Texas’s first Certified Veterinary Assistants program, and held numerous influential roles within AVMA governance.
As a nationally recognized expert in Veterinary telemedicine, she led initiatives to expand access to care while safeguarding animal welfare. She also co-founded the Women’s Veterinary Leadership Development Initiative (WVLDI), promoting gender equity in leadership. Currently a clinical professor at Texas A&M, Dr. Teller continues mentoring future Veterinary leaders. Her enduring impact exemplifies service, innovation, and dedication to advancing Veterinary medicine on all levels.
