Riceland Foods and Hill’s Pet Nutrition have partnered to launch the Riceland-Hill’s Pet Nutrition Sustainable Rice Program as part of the 2024 Riceland Carbon Ready program. This initiative incentivizes Riceland farmer-members to adopt climate-smart farming practices, helping Hill’s reduce its Scope 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 42% by 2030. The program addresses farmers’ financial challenges in transitioning to sustainable practices while enabling Hill’s to achieve its environmental goals.

Riceland collaborates with Arva Intelligence, which quantifies GHG reductions resulting from sustainable practices. These data-driven insights allow Hill’s to demonstrate progress toward its sustainability targets and support farmers through incentive programs. Riceland’s vice president Adam Shea and Hill’s senior director Bas Tabak emphasized the win-win nature of the program, benefiting farmers, supply chains, and environmental sustainability. Launched in 2022, the Riceland Carbon Ready program has become a leading model for integrating sustainability with corporate and agricultural goals.
