The University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine celebrated the groundbreaking of the Gail P. Riepe Center for Advanced Veterinary Education at New Bolton Center, its large-animal hospital. This new 11,800-square-foot clinical skills center, set to open next spring, marks the first dedicated classroom facility on the campus. Designed to enhance Veterinary education, it will feature high-fidelity simulators, flexible classrooms, and community gathering spaces.
Funded in part by a $6 million gift from Gail and Jim Riepe, longtime Penn supporters, the center reflects Penn’s strategic goals in education, health, and public engagement. Penn Vet leaders emphasized the center’s role in strengthening the connection between theoretical and practical learning while enhancing outreach to the agricultural and local communities. The facility also includes classrooms named in memory of Edgar and Myrval Marookian. Students and faculty praised the investment, noting it will significantly enrich hands-on training and support Penn Vet’s One Health and clinical missions.
