Texas A&M University-San Antonio’s Pre-Veterinary Society hosted a hybrid information session featuring representatives from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences. Dr. Elizabeth Crouch, assistant dean of admissions, outlined the competitive nature of the program, which accepts only 180 students from over 1,000 applicants annually. Key application requirements include at least 100 hours working with a veterinarian, a minimum 2.90 GPA, around 45 hours of prerequisite coursework, the CASPer test, and participation in Multiple Mini Interviews.

Students must also demonstrate critical thinking, empathy, and ethical decision-making skills. Two current Veterinary students shared insights on time management, study habits, and the program’s demanding schedule. They advised against working during the first three years due to intense academic loads. The event aimed to clarify the path to Veterinary school and inspire prospective applicants. The Pre-Vet Society hopes to become a formal student organization and plans to fundraise for a campus tour.
