Miracle, a seven-year-old therapy dog, has received the Oklahoma Pet Hall of Fame Companion Award for her work supporting children and staff at the Boys and Girls Club of Norman and the Center for Children and Families. The Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association presented the honor at the 2026 Oklahoma Veterinary Conference in Norman, recognizing three years of service.
Miracle was adopted through the Friends and Folks program, a nonprofit that partners with prison inmates to train shelter dogs in basic obedience, preparing them for adoption and service roles. Placed with the club because of its mission, Miracle now works daily on-site, offering emotional support to children experiencing stress or difficult moments. Staff members also benefit from spending time with her. Whether sitting with a child who needs comfort or simply accepting affection, Miracle helps create calm and connection, demonstrating the meaningful impact therapy animals can have in community settings.
