U.S. dairy exports climbed to $9.51 billion in 2025, up 15% from 2024 and just shy of the $9.54 billion record set in 2022, according to USDA data. Export volumes also rose 5% to 2.8 million metric tons, reflecting strong global demand and broader market diversification. The International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) highlighted significant growth across multiple regions, with particularly sharp gains in North Africa (up 107% in value), the Middle East (48%), South Asia (63%), and the European Union (61%).
Exports to South America, Central America, North America, East Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa also increased. Higher-fat dairy products helped drive momentum, with butter and milk fat volumes surging about 165% and whole milk powders rising 56%. Strong performance in cheese, whey protein concentrates, and dairy spreads further supported growth. U.S. dairy exports now reach 143 countries, reflecting efforts to diversify markets and products, strengthen resilience, and reduce concentration risk in global trade.
