The BluePearl University Partnership Program, launched by BluePearl, a national network of specialty and emergency pet hospitals, aims to address the shortage of Veterinary specialists in the United States. This initiative begins with Colorado State University (CSU), where BluePearl specialists will serve as hybrid faculty members. They will work in select colleges across the country to help train fourth-year students, interns, and residents. The shortage of Veterinary specialists in the industry is a growing concern, impacting pet owners nationwide.
BluePearl Ophthalmologist Dr. Trevor Arnold will join CSU’s Veterinary Health System while retaining his role at BluePearl. He will split his time between the two institutions, spending three-quarters of his time at BluePearl’s Lafayette, Colorado hospital and one-quarter at CSU. This partnership represents an innovative approach to train the next generation of veterinarians, addressing the evolving needs of the Veterinary industry and ensuring the sustainability of the teaching hospital model.
