Eagle, Idaho residents are taking extra steps to protect their pets as ticks appear earlier and in greater numbers this summer. Local veterinarians, including Dr. Zach Raptosh of Lake Shore Animal Hospital, report a significant uptick in tick cases—he recently removed over 80 ticks from a single dog. In response, pet owners are adopting various preventive measures. Eagle resident Rene Robinette sprays her yard and uses vet-recommended tick preventatives. Others, like Gene Roy, favor natural remedies such as adding black cumin to their dog’s food, claiming it has been effective.
While some, like Owen Moorhead, report no tick issues despite frequent outdoor activity, vets still urge caution. Dr. Raptosh emphasizes the importance of affordable and easy-to-use flea and tick preventatives and recommends thorough checks after outdoor play. These proactive steps help reduce disease risk and keep pets safe during the high-tick season in Eagle neighborhoods.
