The Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) has integrated La Bibliothèque Mondiale du Cheval (the Worldwide Horse Library) into its free e-learning platform, FEI Campus, expanding access to one of the most comprehensive digital collections on horses. This innovative library aggregates resources from public and private institutions worldwide, creating the first global virtual library dedicated to equine culture, science, and history. Currently housing over 15,000 works—more than a quarter already digitized—it offers expert-annotated, cross-referenced materials while preserving the rights of contributing libraries.
Supported by the French government, the project combines advanced digital research and interdisciplinary scholarship. The initiative stems from a partnership between the FEI and the Maison de la Recherche en Sciences Humaines (MRSH) of the University of Caen, part of France’s National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS). The collaboration also includes an annual conference, with this year’s event on October 17 celebrating the centenary of renowned Portuguese dressage master Nuno Oliveira.
