Fresno police arrested two people on animal abuse allegations after rescuing three Chihuahua mixes that tested positive for multiple drugs. Brownie, Baby Girl and Vada are recovering at the Fresno Animal Center after officers encountered them in separate incidents during August. All three dogs tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine, while some also had substances including OxyContin and Xanax in their systems.
Officers rescued Brownie on August 5 after finding her lethargic and limp inside a vehicle with Lindsey Herbert, who allegedly had drugs in the vehicle. Brownie received Narcan before receiving Veterinary care. On August 19, police encountered Herbert with Baby Girl, who showed signs of drug exposure. That same day, officers found Noah Garcia administering Narcan and CPR to Vada. Garcia was arrested on trespassing and felony animal abuse charges, while Herbert faces charges including animal abuse and drug possession. The dogs remain shy and nervous while recovering at the shelter.
