The Association of Shelter Veterinarians (ASV) awarded Rebecca Fellman, DVM, as the 2024 ASV Veterinarian of the Year and Karla Brestle, DVM, with the 2024 ASV Meritorious Service Award. Fellman’s transformative initiatives at the MSPCA-Angell in Boston and her visionary strategies in shelter medicine practices earned her the award.
Brestle, the senior director of training and programs for the ASPCA Spay/Neuter Alliance, was commended for her innovative leadership in spay/neuter practices and educational campaigns, empowering veterinarians and students in shelter medicine. These awards aim to acknowledge remarkable individuals who significantly contribute to the health and welfare of animals in sheltering environments, aligning with ASV’s mission.
