The American Heartworm Society (AHS) has launched “Heartworms Unraveled,” a series of five video-based training modules for Veterinary practices. These modules cover heartworm biology, life cycle, epidemiology, testing, prevention, treatment, and feline heartworm disease. The training is led by AHS board specialists and member Paola Dominguez-Lopez, who offers client education tips.
AHS President Jenni Rizzo emphasizes the importance of staff training in heartworm management, highlighting the critical role of Veterinary staff in educating clients due to their frequent interactions and credibility as pet owners. The modules, lasting 25 to 45 minutes each, are accessible for free after registration at a provided link, with optional donations to support program costs. The AHS, founded in 1974, aims to advance the understanding and management of heartworm disease through scientific progress and effective procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.
