Rowan University’s Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine has reached the halfway point in constructing its 162,000-square-foot facility. The milestone was marked by the signing of a 7-foot, 300-pound steel beam, with the first signature by businessman Gerry Shreiber, who donated $30 million for Veterinary student scholarships. The school’s founding dean, Dr. Matthew Edson, announced plans for the first Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) class to begin in 11 months, following accreditation approval from the American Veterinary Medical Association.
The new facility will include classrooms, a teaching hospital, diagnostic labs, and a research center, serving as a critical resource for emergency and specialty care in South Jersey. Rowan anticipates an inaugural class of 70 students, expanding to 90 annually. The building is located on a 300-acre site near Rowan’s main campus. The project is part of a larger partnership between Rowan and Virtua Health, which invested $85 million in 2022.
