Mars Incorporated unveiled the world’s largest pet parent study, revealing insights from over 20,000 pet parents across 20 countries. The study highlights that 56% of people are pet parents, with 47% being first-time owners. It also shows a strong emotional bond between people and their pets, with 37% considering their pet the most important thing in their lives. Cat ownership is more common globally than dog ownership, with more men owning cats.

Mars is launching its first-ever Global Adoption Weekend, aiming to find homes for pets while celebrating new pet parents. The event supports Mars’ mission, “A Better World for Pets,” and will take place in 12 countries. Pet adoption rates are low, with only 11% of dog owners adopting from shelters, highlighting the need for more awareness. Mars aims to address challenges pet parents face and create a more pet-friendly world through various programs and initiatives.
