Veterinarian has been named the top job of 2025 by Indeed, emphasizing its growing importance as a profession merging specialized expertise with meaningful connections. Indeed’s annual rankings, based on salary, growth, and flexibility, revealed healthcare and engineering dominate the list, reflecting society’s focus on well-being and innovation. The rankings include roles with a minimum salary of $75,000, significant growth in job postings, and remote or hybrid work options.
Veterinarian jobs saw a 124% surge in listings over three years, with median salaries of $139,999 and projected growth of 19% over the next nine years, far outpacing the 4% average for other professions. This demand is driven by younger generations prioritizing pets, higher pet care standards, and 75% of U.S. households owning pets. Universities are expanding Veterinary programs to meet demand, though oversupply may occur within a decade. The findings reflect a broader trend favoring jobs requiring specialized skills and interpersonal connections.
