Texas-based convenience store chain Buc-ee’s has filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against Barc-ee’s, a pet-related business in Marshfield, Missouri, located near a newly opened Buc-ee’s Travel Center in Springfield. The suit, filed on March 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri, names EJL Acquisitions, LLC and Home Away from Home Dog Training, LLC as defendants. Buc-ee’s claims Barc-ee’s logo closely mimics its own, citing similarities such as a cartoon animal within a yellow circle, a red hat, and stylized curved lettering.
The complaint includes allegations of trademark infringement, dilution, unfair competition, and false designation of origin. Buc-ee’s is seeking an injunction to halt the alleged infringement, destruction of infringing products, financial damages, and a jury trial. The company also accuses Barc-ee’s of knowingly copying its branding. This marks Buc-ee’s second trademark lawsuit in Missouri, following similar action against a liquor store named Duckees in late 2024.
