The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City has launched the Center for Agriculture and the Economy, reinforcing its commitment to integrating agricultural and rural perspectives into national economic discussions. Building on decades of research and industry engagement, the Center will serve as a key resource within the Federal Reserve System, providing timely analysis and conducting ongoing research on the U.S. and global agricultural economy. It will also facilitate direct engagement with producers and industry leaders to gather insights that inform economic policy.
Kansas City Fed President Jeff Schmid emphasized the region’s vital role in supporting the agricultural economy, while Nate Kauffman, the Center’s executive director, highlighted its goal of cultivating a two-way exchange of knowledge and resources. Representing the largely rural Tenth District, the Center will produce publications such as monthly Agricultural Finance Updates, a quarterly Ag Bulletin, and in-depth reports to support understanding of agricultural trends and policy impacts.
