At VMX, National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA) convened leaders from across the Veterinary profession for a collaborative discussion on what an ideal veterinary practice should look like for the entire care team. Representatives from American Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association, American Association of Veterinary State Boards and other national groups identified shared priorities, including effective team utilization, clear roles, working to the top of licensure, strong onboarding and mentorship, workflow efficiency, trust, and a culture that supports collaboration and well-being.
Participants also discussed short- and long-term strategies to address persistent challenges in veterinary education and regulation, emphasizing the need for practical, scalable tools that work for practices of all sizes. The meeting concluded with agreement to form the Coalition for Veterinary Team Excellence, a cross-organizational working group focused on developing actionable, real-world solutions to strengthen Veterinary teams nationwide.
