The Arkansas State University (ASU) System Board of Trustees received an update that A-State’s new College of Veterinary Medicine remains on track to open in fall 2026. Chancellor Todd Shields said a recent accreditation site visit by the American Veterinary Medical Association went “extremely well,” with a final decision expected in June. Seventeen faculty members have been hired, and applications will launch upon approval. Construction of the 56,000-square-foot Veterinary facility and two educational barns in Jonesboro is on schedule for completion this summer.
Trustees also heard financial updates, including a clean audit for the fiscal year ending June 2025 and improved financial stability at Henderson State University. Additional actions included approving facility renovations at ASU Mid-South, creating a standalone Family Medical Leave Act policy, renaming A-State’s Center for No-Boundary Thinking to the Artificial Intelligence Center of Excellence, launching a new practical nursing certificate program, and naming Steve Eddington Trustee Emeritus.
