The Nebraska Humane Society hosted an alumni reunion and fundraiser at Omaha Dog Bar, bringing together dozens of former shelter dogs and their adoptive families for a celebration of successful adoptions. The event gave former shelter pets an opportunity to reunite with Humane Society staff and fellow adopted dogs while showcasing the positive outcomes of pet adoption. Attendees enjoyed activities such as raffle contests and opportunities for dogs to cool off in pools, creating a fun, family-friendly atmosphere.
The Humane Society emphasized the importance of participating in community events, noting that such gatherings help introduce adoptable dogs to potential owners who may not otherwise visit a shelter. Staff explained that many dogs display their personalities better in public settings than in kennel environments, increasing their chances of finding homes. The event also highlighted a pressing need for adopters, as the Nebraska Humane Society is currently operating at a very high dog capacity and is offering special adoption promotions to encourage more families to adopt.
