Gracie the Giraffe, Who Went Missing After Wandering Off a Texas Ranch, is Finally Found

Gracie, a 3-year-old giraffe, has been missing for nearly two weeks after escaping her enclosure at Cedar Hollow Ranch in Texas Hill Country, about 100 miles west of San Antonio. According to ranch owner Vic Jones, Gracie wandered into a rugged area of the privately owned preserve that other giraffes had never explored. After feeding on a hillside and rocky ledges, she descended on the wrong side of a gate and escaped.

Despite extensive search efforts, including helicopter flights, reported sightings, and a $5,000 reward for information leading to her location, Gracie has not been found. The ranch is located in remote Real County, where residents have been alerted to watch for the missing giraffe. Jones believes the chances of Gracie encountering people are low because the search area is sparsely populated and difficult to access. The search continues as officials and local residents hope to safely locate and return the young giraffe home.
