After nearly 60 years in Veterinary medicine, 81 year old Dr. Larry Baum continues to care for pets and their owners at Dixie Animal Clinic in Hamilton, Ohio, where he has practiced since 1970 and owned the clinic since 1980. A finalist in Butler County’s Best of the Best competition in both 2025 and 2026, Baum credits his longevity to staying active and his philosophy of treating every patient as if it were his own pet while following the Golden Rule with clients. He remains motivated by successful cases, including a recent complex cancer surgery that saved a young dog’s life, and says he will retire only when “the fun stops.”
Baum has built lasting relationships with generations of families, including some fifth generation clients, earning a reputation for compassion, affordability, and personal care. Although Veterinary medicine has changed dramatically during his career, he believes empathy and the bond between people and their pets remain the profession’s most enduring values.
