The U.S. pet wellness industry is expanding rapidly as owners increasingly treat pets as family members and prioritize their health and longevity. According to the American Pet Products Association, 71% of U.S. households owned pets in 2025, when pet spending reached $158 billion.
Fast-growing companies are capitalizing on demand for specialty foods, supplements, insurance, preventive care, and other wellness services. Wagmo, which provides pet health benefits and discounts, generated nearly $15 million in 2025 after quadrupling in three years. Bundle x Joy, offering supplements, foods, and treats, has grown twentyfold, while Brutus Broth tripled in size and generated $17.4 million.
Veterinary workforce and affordability challenges could accelerate the trend. Mars Veterinary Health projects a shortage of up to 24,000 companion animal veterinarians by 2030, while a 2025 MetLife report found 70% of pet owners had delayed or skipped Veterinary visits because of cost, increasing interest in at-home wellness solutions.
