Arkansas State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine will dedicate the Dash Goff Equine Center – Nodouble Barn on Oct. 8, providing Veterinary students with a new facility for hands-on equine training. The center is named for thoroughbred horse owner and breeder Dash Goff, who donated $1 million to the college.
The facility includes eight equine stocks, three stalls, and an equipment storage room. Students will participate in hands-on laboratories covering areas such as hoof care, ultrasound, equine restraint, examinations, and procedural skills.
College of Veterinary Medicine Dean Dr. Heidi Banse said the facility will support A-State’s competency-based Veterinary curriculum and help prepare students to care for companion and performance horses after graduation.
The college also plans to collaborate with Goff, Oaklawn, and other equine industry stakeholders to support DVM students. A plaque inside the barn honors Dr. Doyne Hamm, who served as the Goff family veterinarian for many years.
