American Regent Animal Health has issued a nationwide recall of four lots of Adequan Canine Injection and Adequan i.m. Injection after testing detected glass fibers in retained samples. The recalled products include Adequan Canine lot numbers 3369 and 25011 and Adequan i.m. lot numbers 24416 and 25265P. Adequan Canine is an FDA approved treatment for dogs with osteoarthritis, while Adequan i.m. is used to treat joint dysfunction and lameness in horses.
Although no adverse events have been reported, glass fibers in injectable products could cause pain, swelling, inflammation, infection, or abscesses at the injection site. The recalled lots were distributed nationwide to Veterinary practices, pharmacies, wholesalers, and distributors between May 2024 and January 2026. American Regent is advising Veterinary professionals and distributors to stop using and distributing the affected products immediately and either return or dispose of remaining inventory. The recall is being conducted with the FDA’s knowledge, and adverse events should be reported promptly.
