The Animal Health Institute has expressed appreciation for a recent presidential proclamation addressing pharmaceutical tariffs in the United States. In a statement, AHI President and CEO Martha Scott Poindexter noted that the organization is still reviewing the details of the April 2, 2026 proclamation, titled “Adjusting Imports of Pharmaceuticals and Pharmaceutical Ingredients into the United States.”
Poindexter emphasized AHI’s interest in working with the administration on implementation and supporting shared goals of increasing domestic investment and production of animal health products. She also thanked the administration for recognizing the importance of maintaining access to these products, which are essential for veterinarians, farmers, and ranchers.
The statement underscores the role of policy in ensuring a stable supply of animal health products and highlights ongoing collaboration between industry leaders and government to support animal health and agricultural needs.
