An Ohio animal hospital owner and an alleged accomplice have been indicted on seven charges involving a prescription drug scheme that allegedly used a deceased dog’s name to obtain controlled substances. Dr. Kris L. Taylor, 62, owner and veterinarian at Landings Animal Hospital in Avon Lake, and Camile Nieto, 29, are accused of repeatedly obtaining oxycodone and alprazolam prescriptions under the name “Punkin,” a dog that had already died.
Investigators allege the scheme occurred between August 2024 and June 2025, involving more than 20 prescriptions filled at pharmacies throughout Northeast Ohio. Both defendants face charges including engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, deception to obtain dangerous drugs, illegal processing of drug documents, and drug possession. The most serious charge is a first-degree felony. Both appeared in court and received $500,000 bonds. Despite the indictments, Landings Animal Hospital confirmed that it remains open for business.
