Artificial intelligence adoption among Veterinary professionals has more than doubled in two years, rising from 39.2% in 2024 to 83.7% in 2026, according to a study by Digitail and the American Animal Hospital Association. Surveying 1,730 professionals, researchers found that practices with established AI strategies, governance, and integrated workflows reported six times more positive business outcomes than those with limited implementation.
Clinical documentation was the most common application, followed by client communication and diagnostics. Reported benefits included increased patient throughput, improved client satisfaction, and expanded digital services. However, nearly half of practices lacked a formal AI strategy, while 65.2% implemented AI without significantly changing workflows.
Concerns about accuracy, data security, and insufficient training persist despite growing optimism. Looking ahead, nearly 80% of respondents expect AI to become integrated into most Veterinary workflows within five years, highlighting its expanding role in improving practice efficiency and patient care across the profession.
